Function

With web edge guiding or web center-line guiding in automatic mode, one or two edge sensors connected to the controller detect the current position (ACTUAL position) of the material web and transmit the respective information to the integrated position controller.

With line, contrast or feature guiding, a line, contrast or object sensor detects the current position (ACTUAL position) of a line, contrast transition or print feature on the material web and transmits the respective information to the position controller.

The position controller compares the ACTUAL recorded position against the predetermined SETPOINT position. The controller will send a relevant correction signal to the actuator if a deviation is found to exist between the two values. The actuator will move the guiding device (rotating frame guide or swivel roll guide) until the material web returns to its SETPOINT position.
